The Winter Springs Police Foundation exists to strengthen the relationship between our community and law enforcement by supporting the officers, programs, and initiatives that help keep Winter Springs safe, connected, and thriving.
THE BOARD
DAN GRIEB
Dan Grieb is the President of the Winter Springs Police Foundation and a longtime community leader with a heart for service, mentorship, and philanthropy. A former Winter Springs Police Officer, Dan is honored to return and serve alongside the department and community he once helped protect.
Known for building relationships and bringing people together, Dan also serves on the board of HomeAid Orlando and owns the Dan Grieb Concierge Team, a niche real estate group in Central Florida. His vision for the Foundation is rooted in gratitude, connection, and a deep belief that those who serve others should feel supported, appreciated, and never alone.

KAREN MEYER
Karen Meyer brings decades of leadership, public service, and community involvement to her role as Vice President of the Winter Springs Police Foundation. After a 27-year career with Texas Instruments, where she developed training programs, authored operational manuals, and received corporate recognition awards, Karen dedicated herself to serving and strengthening her community. Her extensive volunteer background includes involvement with the Winter Springs Police Department Citizen’s Advisory Committee, Citizens Police Academy, Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), and the American Red Cross Disaster Action Team. A former Police Reserve Officer and longtime outdoor skills instructor, Karen is passionate about public safety, leadership, and community engagement.

Board MemberJohn Shimanski
John Shimansky brings a lifelong commitment to public safety, community involvement, and leadership to the Winter Springs Police Foundation Board of Directors. Originally from Brooklyn, New York, John served with the New York/New Jersey Port Authority Police Department, spending much of his career at Newark International Airport working in Emergency Services and ARFF (Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting) units before retiring in 1994. After relocating to Winter Springs with his family, he became actively involved with the Winter Springs Police Department by launching a Neighborhood Watch program and participating in Citizens Advisory Committee meetings. Professionally, John has served as Inventory Control Manager for Greenway Ford for over 25 years. Outside of work and community service, he enjoys gardening and cheering on UCF athletics, the New York Yankees, and the Orlando Magic.

A Winter Springs resident since 2005, Ted is a dedicated community advocate and retired educator who spent nine years at Winter Springs High School as a teacher, coach, and athletic director. This background in managing athletic programs and student development fuels his unique perspective on public service and engagement.
Currently, Ted applies his expertise in operations and professional relations at Christian Brothers Automotive. An active member of Action Church, he is driven by a personal mission of service. Ted is honored to serve on the Police Foundation board, leveraging his leadership to strengthen the bond between law enforcement and citizens. He and his wife, Meghan, live in the Highlands and have three adult children.
Chris Smith
Christopher Smith brings strong financial expertise and a lifelong connection to Winter Springs to his role on the Winter Springs Police Foundation Board of Directors. A licensed CPA with 12 years of accounting experience, Chris offers valuable insight in financial stewardship, accountability, and organizational support. Having lived in Winter Springs for most of his life and graduating from Winter Springs High School in 2006, he has a deep personal connection to the community the Foundation serves. Chris is honored to contribute his professional experience and local perspective to support the mission of the Foundation and help strengthen the relationship between law enforcement and the Winter Springs community.
BRYAN MOYER
Bryan Moyer has lived in Winter Springs since 1995 and brings more than 40 years of experience in the defense industry. He began his career with Lockheed Martin in Denver, Colorado, where he worked for 10 years before relocating to Winter Springs, Florida. Bryan continued his career with Lockheed Martin and retired in 2021 as a Senior Staff Systems Engineer.
Bryan has been married to his wife, Cheryl, for 43 years. Together, they have two adult children and two grandchildren. He is also an active member and volunteer at The Action Church in Winter Springs.
In his free time, Bryan enjoys fishing, golf, travel, sports memorabilia, and home remodeling. His long standing connection to the Winter Springs community and heart for service make him a valued member of the Winter Springs Police Foundation.
jEAN hOVEY
Jean Hovey brings decades of nonprofit leadership, legal experience, and community service to the Winter Springs Police Foundation. Jean and her husband, Bruce, moved to Florida in 1985 and have called Winter Springs home since 1987. Their two sons, Robert and Michael, both graduated from Lyman High School and continue to live and work in Central Florida.
Professionally, Jean served for over ten years as Executive Director of a large nonprofit and previously worked for 30 years as a legal assistant in the Orlando area. Her long history of volunteer service includes PTA leadership at the local, county, state, and national levels, along with service on school advisory committees, athletic boosters, and as a Cub Scout leader. Jean is proud to support the Foundation’s mission and strengthen the bond between law enforcement and the Winter Springs community.
RICK KRACK
Rick grew up in South Jersey, just outside of Atlantic City. He briefly attended West Point before continuing his education and baseball career at Cal State Northridge, where he graduated from college.
After college, Rick began his career in accounting with a large national CPA firm outside of Los Angeles, where he worked for four years. He moved to Florida in 1984 and spent ten years with a large local CPA firm before starting his own CPA firm in 1994. He has practiced in Winter Springs ever since.
Rick has extensive experience in both tax and audit services and works with a wide variety of clients, including many not-for-profit, charitable, and religious organizations. He became involved with the Winter Springs Police Foundation through Action Church and was drawn to the mission because of his family’s strong connection to law enforcement.
Rick joined the WSPF as a way to give back to the community and support law enforcement officers, who he knows from experience do not always receive the community support they need and deserve.
